Communities 1st work at the point where everyday life either opens up or narrows down. We support our members which are also charities or CICs. We partner with different organisations such as local authorities, across our area which covers St Albans, Hertsmere, and Welwyn Hatfield. We have a wealth of our own services including a community transport service, community training both online and in-person, supporting refugees, essential services such as shopping, prescription collection, and gardening, supporting people with using IT equipment and smartphones under our Staying Connected project. We support the dementia-friendly community in Welwyn Hatfield area by helping to promote any events/workshops/support groups and with guidance and advice from our CVS team.
All Sorts offers fun, friendly groups with Cognitive Stimulation Therapy activities, giving loved ones regular breaks from caring.

Hatfield Library is a dementia-friendly hub offering information, resources and support for people living with dementia and their carers. Dementia-aware staff work with local partners through the Welwyn Hatfield Dementia Friendly Community Partnership Group.

Hertfordshire County Council Trading Standards protects vulnerable residents from fraud, including installing free landline call blockers for people living with dementia so carers can leave without worrying about scam calls. It also gives carers’ groups talks on current scams and how to stay safe.
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council supports people living with dementia by working in partnership with local organisations, health services, community groups, and volunteers. Together, we provide opportunities for people living with dementia and their carers to stay connected, active, and supported through inclusive activities, wellbeing programmes, and community spaces.
Through our Healthy Hub, we are able to signpost carers to local support services. We also support and promote national campaigns that raise awareness and understanding of dementia across the borough.
As part of our ongoing commitment, we are currently working towards dementia-friendly accreditation and will be encouraging businesses and community organisations to play an active role in making Welwyn Hatfield more dementia friendly.

At Home Instead, care is built on relationships by providing home care across Welwyn & Hatfield, helping people live safely and independently at home plus help Plowright Hinton run Christine’s Community Café every other Tuesday at Digswell Village Hall.
Memory Support Hertfordshire is a countywide service for people who may or may not have a formal diagnosis of dementia, as well as for their families and carers. The service provides a single point of access through one telephone number and is delivered in partnership by Age UK Hertfordshire, Alzheimer’s Society, and Carers in Hertfordshire.
